Mr. Patrick “Pat” Corriero age 96, of Utica, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, with the love and support of his family.
He was born in Utica on June 12, 1925, a son of the late Francesco and Theresa (Volaino) Corriero and was a graduate of TR Proctor High School. Pat proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII from 1943-1946 aboard the USS Plunkett (DD-431) in the European theater and later the USS Tarawa (CV-40). Upon his return he attended Utica College on the G.I. bill. On May 8, 1948, he was united in marriage to Paula N. Cerminaro in Mt. Carmel Church, a blessed union of 69 years, until her passing in 2017. Pat established his own floral business in 1951 known as “Culver Flowers and Gifts” where he served the community with quality and humility for over 35 years, until his retirement in 1986. He then passed along the family business to his son Daniel who operated the business under the watchful eye of his father until his retirement in 2006. A kind and humble man, he will forever live in the hearts of his dear family.
He was a parishioner of St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church, a member of the Fort Schuyler Post # 1290 and the Knights of St. John Commandry # 385.
A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Pat is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jane Corriero-Jones and husband, Leonard Jones of Marcy; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Daniel P. Corriero of Utica and Robert and Karen Corriero (whom he thought of as a daughter) of Syracuse; his beloved grandchildren Capt. Daniel P. Corriero, Jr. USAF and wife, Samantha and their son, Francesco; Christopher Corriero and Alivia Richter, Avery Corriero, Anderson Corriero and Erica (Ray) Bushley and their son, Riley; two sisters, Molly Szuba, and Josephine and husband Howard McDermott; one brother-in-law, Robert Joseph of NC. and several nieces and nephews and a special niece Helene Laurenti, his God daughter and birthday twin. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Lena Decker and Jennie Gianotti and his brother, Michael Curriere.
There will be no public visitation.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, 4/26/22 at 10:30 am in St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church. The family will greet visitors at the conclusion of Mass in church. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
