Peter John Fanelli

Mr. Peter John Fanelli, a beautiful spirit departed this life on Saturday January 10, 2015.

He was born on February 21, 1966 in Utica, son of John P. and Ruth Cozza Fanelli and was educated in local schools, having graduated from Notre DameHigh School. He also received his BS in Nuclear Medicine from Rochester Institute of Technology. Peter was a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist currently employed with Dr. Nassif of Mohawk Valley Cardiology.

Peter was a loving and caring son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to all he knew. He had a charismatic personality and touched the lives of those who came in contact with him, especially his patients who became friends with Peter and truly loved his kind and caring ways. He loved his family dearly, and was devoted to them all. His brilliant smile and gentle attitude will forever live in the hearts of his beloved family.

Some of his favorite pastimes were going to the movies with his brother and nieces. He especially loved going to see the superhero films from all his beloved comic books. He could talk for hours afterwards of all that was right and wrong in the movies. He had a love of traveling and was always quick to take any opportunity to visit many places. He was able to go to Europe many times. He loved visiting Old Forge during the summers and New York City throughout the year. The past few years Peter and his brother were in a bowling league together. Peter was always looking for new experiences and was truly the life of any party.

Surviving are his beloved parents Ruth and John; his brother Rocco J. Fanelli; two cherished nieces Alyssa and Taylor Fanelli; his uncle and aunt George and Anita Fanelli; and several loving cousins and dear friends. He also leaves his canine companion Cleo. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Rock and Lena Fanelli and Joseph and Rose Cozza, his sister-in-law Mary Fanelli and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday afternoon at 12:30 pm in St. Joseph/St. Patrick Church, Utica. Private entombment will be in CalvaryCemetery.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday (today) from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc., 1122 Culver Ave.

The family would also like to express their thanks to the doctors and nurses of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center for their care of Peter during his treatment, and to friends, family and loved ones for their support of Peter and all our family during this difficult time. Also a heartfelt Thank You is extended to Dr. Ramzi Nassif and his loyal staff and Dr. Garth Garramone for their care, compassion and friendship.
