Mr. Peter J. Fiorillo age 56, of Utica, passed away on Sunday May 21, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by those he loved.

He was born in Utica on February 11, 1961 a son of the late Peter J. and Grace A. Carenza Fiorillo. He was a graduate of TR Proctor High School and went on to receive his Biology Degree from HCCC. Peter continued his studies and graduated SUNY Poly with both a BS Degree and also a Masters Degree in Accounting.

Peter was a steadfast Public Servant having been employed for many years as the Deputy Comptroller, for the City of Utica and in most recent years as the City of Utica, Budget Director. His knowledge, honesty and integrity were second to none, and the city of Utica has lost a special person.

Peter's favorite hobby was riding his motorcycle with his friends, as well as fishing and playing baseball in his younger years. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

Surviving are two sisters and a brother-in-law Lorraine and Jerry Cardinale of PA. and Janice Cardin of Utica; his niece Renee Cardinale; three nephews Michael Cardinale and wife Erin, Richard Cardinale and Phillip Cardin; his devoted girlfriend Erin Murphy; several cousins and his dear and special friends David and Renee Longeretta, Joseph McBride, Philip Cittadino, Mike and Lori Sabino and Joe and Sarah Artessa, as well as all his friends and co-workers in the comptrollers office and entire city hall, and with sincere appreciation to Mayor David Roefaro and Mayor Robert Palmieri.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass and Celebration of Life on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church.

A special Thank You is extended to Peter's medical professionals, oncologists, Dr. Lawrence Garbo of Albany, NY and Dr. Anthony Scalzo of Syracuse, NY and their entire staff and Dr. ElKhoury of Utica and his staff, ackowledging Lisa Leone; and also to Hospice Care Inc. especially Anne for all of their care and compassion given to Peter and his family during his illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or Hospice Care Inc. . Envelopes will be available.
