Mr. Peter A. Liuzzi, age 88, of New Hartford passed away peacefully on Monday July 20, 2015 at St. Luke's MedicalCenter with his beloved family by his side.
Peter was born in Rochester, N.Y. on August 9, 1926, the son of the late Frank and Rose (Gaudio) Liuzzi. He was a graduate of T.R.ProctorHigh School, Utica, and the Progressive School of Photography, New Haven, Conn.
On November 26, 1960 he was joined in marriage with Dolores Ricco a blessed union of over 40 years. Mrs. Liuzzi passed away on March 22, 2001.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II, and again in the United States Navy during the Korean War, serving as Ship's Photographer aboard the Battleship U.S.S. New Jersey, BB62.
Peter spent the majority of his career working in military and aerospace photography with companies including General Electric, and Raytheon Company. He retired from the State of New York in 1988.
Peter was a devoted husband and father. He was never the same after the passing of his wife, Dolores, but carried on as best as he could. He had a deep Catholic faith, and a sincere concern for his family and friends. He was proud of his country, as well as his Italian heritage. He traveled to many parts of the world, as well as throughout the United States during his lifetime. He was an incredible cook who enjoyed music, especially opera, and loved his casino trips! His great sense of humor always made any get-together laughter-filled!
Surviving are his beloved son Francis and girlfriend Robin Bridson of New Hartford, three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Frank Liuzzi, Penfield, NY, Raymond and Lorraine Liuzzi, Whitesboro, and Louis and Esther Comito, Utica; one sister and brother-in-law Barbara and David Kearney, Syracuse; brother-in-law Anthony Orsaio, and sister-in-law Mary Lourdes Chiffy; in-laws, Anthony Ricco, Frank Ricco, and Fran Ricco, as well as cousins including Joe and Margaret Montanaro, his many nieces and nephews especially acknowledging Karen Kuznia, Gina Rooney, Rachel Gallagher, David O'Brien, and Kathy O'Brien, great-nieces and great-nephews, godchildren, and many special friends, including life-long family friend Al Mallozzi.
He was predeceased by his step-mother, Rose Comito Liuzzi, father-in-law and mother-in-law Frank and Emma Ricco, four sisters, Helen (Lawrence) O'Brien, Lucille (Stanley) Kuznia, Katherine (Arthur) DelMedico, and Patricia Orsaio; one brother, Joseph Comito; in-laws Alice Liuzzi, Marie and Sam DeFazio, Dorothy and Charles Partridge, Evelyn and Frank Palmieri, Beverly Ricco, Carole Ricco, and Frances Ricco.
There will be no public visitation.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10:00 A.M. in Mt.Carmel / Blessed Sacrament Church, with Military Honors conferred. Private interment will be in CalvaryCemetery. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of mass in church.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Fred Talarico, Patricia Rosati ANP, and Dr. Stephen Culver for their many years of healthcare provided to Peter.
