Rainer Kohlbrenner, age 70, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at the Foltsbrook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Herkimer, with love of his family in his heart.
He was born in Germany on January 4, 1953, a son of the late Walter and Klara (Zah) Kohlbrenner. Rainer graduated from UFA and went on to be employed with Faxton Hospital as their building services supervisor for over 40 years until his retirement. On September 6, 1975, he married Patricia Antone in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, a blessed union of 48 years.
Rainer was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Rainer is survived by his loving wife, Patti; two sons, Rainer Kohlbrenner Jr. and Michael and wife Nicole Kohlbrenner all of Utica; grandchildren, Andrew, Raina and Sophie Kohlbrenner; two sisters, his twin sister, Elvera Estright of New Hartford and Helga and husband Harry Morrison of Westmoreland; mother-in-law, Theresa Antone of Utica; daughter-in-law, Kristy Kohlbrenner; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tony and Gina Antone and Ralph and Gwen Antone as well as several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 5 -7 PM at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home 1122 Culver Ave, Utica. Funeral services will be on Friday at 10:00 am at St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Private interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park.
Rainer’s family wishes to thank Dr. Scott Brehaut and staff for all the care and compassion shown over the past 20 years.
