Mr. Ralph Polera, age 90, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 14, 2022, in the comfort of his own home, with his wife and son by his side.
He was born on August 29, 1931, in Utica a son of the late John and Theresa (Masercola) Polera. Ralph graduated from T.R. Proctor High School in 1949. On October 9, 1954, he was married to Patricia LoConti in St. Anthony’ Church, a blessed union of 67 years. Ralph was the proud owner of Ralph Polera Electric Co. for many years until his retirement.
He enjoyed coaching Robak Rangers Youth Hockey and Pony League Baseball. Ralph volunteered for many years at the E.J. Herrmann Track Meet and was a member of the “Proctor Boys” as well as a long-time member of the East Utica Optimist Club.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; son, Richard Polera, Beavercreek, OH; grandchildren, Rob (Jen) Polera and Rory (Betsy) Polera, daughter-in-law Rose Polera; sister, Caroline Alito; two sisters-in-law, Mary Cody Polera and Mildred Hall Polera and several nieces and nephews and many special friends. Ralph was predeceased by his beloved son, Robert Polera; brothers, Rocco and John Polera; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard Alito, Hank (Barb) LoConti and Joe (Marilyn) Shanks.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral services on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at 11:00 am in the Chapel at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum (upper level) with the Rev. Art Krawczenko officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Rd. New Hartford, NY 13413, in memory of Ralph.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person. An hour to appreciate them. A day to love them. And an entire life to forget them.
