Mr. Raymond Paciello, age 92, of Utica, passed away on Tuesday February 18, 2025, at the Wynn Hospital with his loving family by his side.
He was born on April 2, 1932, in Utica, a son of the late Sam and Antoinette Barbero Paciello. Educated locally, he was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School.
On May 17, 1958, he was joined in marriage to Laura Gauthier in St. Joseph’s Church, a blessed union of 57 years, until her passing on March 11, 2016.
Ray proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War Conflict.
Ray began his career in the automotive repair industry with the Lee Electric Co. where he was employed for over 20 years. He then established his own business in 1974 as the owner and operator of Ray’s Electric on Bleecker St. In 1980 his son Tim partnered with Ray, until his retirement in 2001.
He was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Church and Historic Old St. Johns Church.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Francine Paciello of Utica; one daughter and son-in-law, Beth Ann and Timothy McCarthy of Old Forge, NY; four cherished grandchildren, Alyssa Paciello (Felix Vargas), Lauren Paciello and Ryan McCarthy and fiancé Mia Pollino and Erin McCarthy; three great grandchildren Celie, Felix, Jr. and Kiana Vargas; his sister-in-law Beatrice Rabbia, and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by three brothers, Francis, Donald (Shirley) and Dennis Paciello, his in-laws Louis (Mary) Gauthier, Sylvester (Donna) Gauthier, Marie (Leo) Bonfardeci, Arlene (Vincent) Maneen, Tom Rabbia and Doris Austin.
Visiting hours will be this Friday from 4-6 pm at The Scala, Roefaro & Karboski Funeral Home 1122 Culver Ave., Utica
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 1:00 pm in St. Peter’s Church, N. Utica. Spring interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ray may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org or envelopes will be available at the service.
