Reta (Manca) Fierro

Mrs. Reta (Manca) Fierro, age 87, of Utica, went home to join her beloved husband Thomas, on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, with her loving family by her side.

She was born on November 17, 1927 in Utica, a daughter of the late Salvatore A. and Caroline Sorrentino Manca and was educated in local schools. She was also a graduate of BeckerJunior College in Worcester, MA.

On February 13, 1954, she was joined in marriage to Thomas A. Fierro in St. Agnes Church, a blessed union of 57 years, until his passing on March 22, 2011.

Her work career began with the UticaCitySchool District. She then became a dedicated employee with PAR Technology for many years, until her retirement.

Reta was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose life centered around her family. She was so very dear to them always giving selflessly to whatever her family needed. She was a fun loving person, who always had a smile and a kind word. She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

Surviving are one son, Thomas Fierro of Albany; two daughters and one son-in-law, Carol Cassetti and Dave Collins of Utica, and Christine and Peter Rocci Jr. of Utica; her cherished grandchildren, Christopher Cassetti, Jennifer Cassetti, Alex Rocci, Nicholas Rocci, Victoria Rocci and Joseph Fierro; her in-laws, Mary Manca and Marie Manca and many loving nieces and nephews, and her extended family Vinnie and Peter Rocci who were all so dear to Reta. She was predeceased by one sister Jean Dardano and four brothers Anthony, Lawrence, Dominick and Robert Manca.

There will be no public visiting hours.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Monday afternoon at 1:00 pm in Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Spring interment will be in CalvaryCemetery, Herkimer, NY.

The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of mass in church.
