Mrs. Rosalind "RoRo" Basile Nicoletta, age 77, of Utica passed away on Tuesday June 11, 2013 in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, with her beloved family by her side.
She was born on January 30, 1936 in Utica, a daughter of the late Rocco and Margaret Obernesser Basile. Educated locally she was a graduate of T. R Proctor High School.
Rosalind, was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother whose life revolved around her family. She was very proud of her children and their many accomplishments having special bonds with each one of them, and was the happiest when they were all together. RoRo was especially devoted to the care of her dear daughter Patricia Ann, who passed away in 1984. She truly enjoyed bingo and her many trips to the "mall". She also loved to knit and crochet, making several blankets and special knits, donating them to the church, for the benefit of others. A woman of love and character, she will be sadly missed, but never forgotten. She was a devoted parishioner of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church.
Surviving are her two loving sons and one daughter-in-law, Frank Nicoletta of Utica, and Mark (UFD) and Lisa Nicoletta of Utica; four loving daughters and one son-in-law, Diane Nicoletta, Michele Nicoletta, Joyce Nicoletta and Judy and John Gerardi of CA.; five cherished grandsons, Mark Anthony Nicoletta, Dominic Frank Nicoletta, Joshua Joseph Gerardi, Jason Salvatore Gerardi, and Justyn Rocco Gerardi; and her brand new granddaughter Jenna Louise Gerardi, all of whom were Ro's treasures!: also her sister-in-law Carmella Vetere; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her special friends, Kay Pentasuglia, Marion Desiato, Angelo Spiridilozzi, and many more. She was predeceased by her loving daughter Patricia Ann Nicoletta in 1984 and her brother William R. Basile, Sr. in 2003.
Her funeral will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. from the The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. and at 11:30 a.m. in Mt. Carmel/ Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family extends a special Thank You to the staff of CT, ICU at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, especially Kris and JoAnn and also to Dr. Frederick Joyce and Dr. Fred Talerico for their care and compassion.
