Rose M. Casatelli

Mrs. Rose M. (Roefaro) Casatelli, age 100, passed away on Wednesday January 9, 2019 at the Sitrin Home with her beloved family by her side.

She was born in Utica on February 26, 1918 a daughter of the late Angelo and Leah Mirante Roefaro and was educated in local schools. On July 5, 1943 she was married to Peter J. Casatelli in St. Anthony of Padua Church, a loving and blessed union of 55 years, until his passing on October 21, 1998.

Rose worked for many years, as the bookkeeper, with her husband Peter in the operation of their family business "Atlas Oil Co.", which Peter founded in 1932. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose memory will be forever cherished by her beloved family.

Surviving are her beloved sons, Ronald J. Casatelli of New Hartford and Joyce Scharf, who cared for Rose daily for the last several years; Louis Casatelli of Marcy; her beloved daughter Rosalie Lucas of VA; her cherished grandchildren Peter and Melissa Casatelli of NC, Christina and Anthony D' Alessandro of NC, Stephanie Lucas of VA, Jennifer and Matthew Crane of TX, Kathleen Casatelli, Louis Casatelli and John W. Heinig; cherished great-grandchildren Leah, Peter "PJ" and Cole Casatelli, Anthony and Luca D' Alessandro, Leah, Joe, Mabrie, and twins Alice and Aubrey Crane; brother-in-law Renato Roefaro and wife Carol; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her beloved daughters Rosalia Casatelli in 1946 and Leah Casatelli in 1976, two daughters-in-law Barbara J. Casatelli and Barbara Ann Casatelli, son-in-law Roger Lucas, sister Angela Roefaro and brother John Roefaro.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Sitrin Home for the exceptional care Rose received, especially; Peggy, Taylor, Kathy and Kenisha.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 11:00 am in St. Basil's Melkite Catholic Church, with the Rev. Saba Shofany officiating . Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Donations in memory of Rose may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
