Ruth Ella "Sharon" (Brockert) Hazzard

Ruth Ella (Sharon) Hazzard, age 81, passed away on Wednesday November 22, 2023, in the Wynn Hospital Utica.

She was born in Utica NY, on March 27, 1942, and was the daughter of Ella Mae Brockert and stepdaughter of Morris Stevens.  Ruth was raised on the Hurricane Road in Cold Brook where she attended school in Poland, NY

She lived in Remsen, NY for over 40 years before moving to Utica.  She was employed at the O.K. Corral in Remsen for many years before becoming a nurse’s aide at the Masonic Home, Utica where she retired.

She leaves behind many family and friends who morn her passing, 5 children including 3 daughters and 2 sons:   Mary Ann Robbins & Frank Grzesiak, Utica ; Cindy & Danny Millick, Remsen; Charlene & Steve Cox, Ballston Lake; William Hazzard III (Karen), Remsen,  John Hazzard (Karen) Boonville; 13 Grandchildren:  Misty Fuller (Aaron), Don Robbins (Melanie), Shannon Goodman (Brandon), Desiree Armstrong (Curtis), Amber Rodriguez (Gustavo), Amanda Bray (Jimmy), Matthew Hazzard, Jacob Hazzard, William Hazzard IV, Joseph Hazzard, Cody Smith, Jessie Knoll, and Michael Knoll. 17 Great-Grand Children: Aaron Fuller Jr., Zachery Fuller, McKenzie Fuller, Jordan Rende, Olivia Goodman, Brandon Goodman Jr, Lily Armstrong, Iris Armstrong, Irieonna Rodriguez, Jazmia Rodriguez, Jameson Bray, Vi-Lynn Smith, Kevin Knoll, Rachel Hudson, Connor Hudson, Heather Hudson, and Persephone Perretta.

She also leaves 1 brother Donald Stevens (Cindy), Utica, 1 sister Violia Reska, Frankfort and sister in-laws Mary Scully, North Utica; Charlene Hartman, Rome & Marilyn Hazzard, Kirkville.  Many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She leaves many close friends from the Brook Apts. in Utica including her rosary group and bingo group.

She was preceded in death by her parents Morris and Ella Stevens and Thomas O’Donnell, her one true love Peter R Ferriter who she shared over 40 years with. Two daughters Vanessa Potter and Valeire Hazzard, two brothers Howard Stevens and a very special brother Tom O’Donnell who visited with her every Sunday before his passing.

There will be no calling hours, a private family graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Utica, NY.  A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
