Mr. Salvatore Alberico, Jr., age 65, of Utica went home to be with his son Salvatore “Sal” on Thursday January 6, 2022.

He was born in Utica on March 8, 1956, a son of the late Salvatore Sr. and Marie Desimone Alberico and was educated in local schools. Sal was a painter by trade and was employed for many years with the City of Utica, positioned in the Utica Police Dept. for 12 years and also Utica City Hall, until his retirement.

Sal was mostly known for his musician skills. He was a profound Saxophone player, known throughout New York State and beyond. He played with several area groups, but most notably with his late father, The Sal Alberico Sr. Band. Sal was a natural born musician and loved to entertain people, especially his family. He was a loving and devoted son, father, grandfather and brother. His quiet demeaner and bright smile would light up a room. A gentle and kind soul, he will forever live in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.

He was predeceased by his beloved son Salvatore A. (Sal) Alberico in 2005 and his loving parents Salvatore Sr. and Marie Alberico.

Surviving is his beloved daughter Stephanie; his three cherished grandchildren Giavanna, Daniel and Mia; his fellow musician and beloved brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Deborah Alberico of Mohawk; his beloved sisters and brothers-in-law Angela and Anthony Violante of FL., Kathleen Alberico of New Hartford, Dr. Frances and Martin Carns, of Rochester,  Nancy and Moses Salcido of FL., Lisa and Donald Hughes of Oneida, Maria C. and Louis T. Brindisi, Esq. of Utica, and Caprice Daniels and Bradford Hellinger of Utica; his aunts and uncles  Dominick and Mirella Desimone, Philip Desimone and Lucille Desimone and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial this Saturday January 15th, at 11:00 am in Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish (Our Lady of Lourdes Campus) 2222 Genesee St. Utica. He will be laid to rest next to his son in Calvary Cemetery. Face masks are required for attending church services. His funeral Mass will be livestreamed @ youtubejoesalerno.
