Salvatore J. "Sam" Fanelli

Mr. Salvatore J. (Sam) Fanelli, age 89, a lifelong Utica resident, passed away on Wednesday August 16, 2017 at the Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center in Florida.

He was born in Utica on May 31, 1928, a son of the late Salvatore and Frances Bonamassa Fanelli. Raised and educated locally, he was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. Salvatore proudly served our country in the US Navy. He was married to Emma Tassino in St. Anthony of Padua Church, a blessed union of 43 years until her passing on May 19, 1994.

Sam was employed by the NYS Thruway Authority, retiring in 1993 after 39 years of service. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church.

Surviving are his beloved son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Judi Fanelli of FL; his cherished granddaughter, Gia Mara Fanelli and husband Mark Drenga of CT. and several nieces, nephews and his grand-dogs Jake and Bella. He was predeceased by his brother, John Fanelli and two sisters, Nan Talarico and Rose Scampone.

Private funeral services with entombment in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum will be held at the convenience of the family.
