Susan (Rizik) Massoud

Mrs. Susan (Rizik) Massoud, age 90, of Utica, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the Presbyterian Home for CNY where she had been a resident.
Born on March 6, 1922, Susan was the daughter of the late Chiefe and Sadie (Dennoui) Rizik. She was raised and educated in Antara, Lebanon where she married the "Love of Her Life," on January 18, 1943, John T. Massoud. They relocated to the United States and the Utica area along with their family in 1956. The couple shared in a sixty nine year union filled with love and a strong devotion for each other and their family.
At one time, Mrs. Massoud was employed by Abeloves Laundry in Utica. Susan's life revolved around her family and friends, she always greeted them with much love and affection, her door was always open for who ever came to visit and she welcomed them with a gentle heart and many culinary delights. As the matriarch, she set a true example by leading her loved ones through life with a warm, gentle smile on her face. Having such love and faith for God and her church, she was a devoted parishioner of St. Louis of Gonzaga Church and a member of the St. Mary's Guild and the St. Maura's Society.
Susan is survived by her beloved husband John; three daughters and a son-in-law, Kamleh Tehan, Loretta and F. Eugene Romano all of New Hartford, and Susan Issa of Utica; two sons and a daughter-in-law John A. and Samera Massoud of New Hartford and Paul T. Massoud of Utica; her cherished grandchildren, Lori and Craig Forman, Victoria and Joseph Dussich, Joseph Massoud, Ava Massoud, Louis and Lisa Tehan, David and Norma Tehan, Dr. Maria and Dr. James Jones, Patricia and William Virkler II, Paul and Stephanie Massoud, Dr. Adam and Marytheresa Massoud, Jonathan Massoud, Nadime Issa, and Prissilla Issa; and her adored great grandchildren, Matthew Forman and Rachel Forman, Joesph Dussich, Alissa, Andrea and Arica Tehan, Mary Magdalene and Robert Tehan, Angelina, Audrianna, and James Jones, William Virkler, III and Alyssa Virkler, Marcus Massoud and Aden Massoud, Amira Massoud and Adam Massoud. Susan also leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, all of whom loved her very much; and her in-laws Jamel Massoud of Marcy and Massouda Tawill of Lebanon. She was pre-deceased by her son, Anthony; a daughter, Sadie Massoud; and her son-in-law, Robert Tehan; along with several brother and sisters.
