Suzanne M. (Lasher) Firlit

UTICA- Suzanne (Susie) M. Firlit, 75, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2022 at the Abraham House in Rome surrounded by the love and support of her family.

Sue was born in Utica on September 17, 1946 to the late John and Jane (Hartnett) Lasher. She graduated from UFA and went on to Utica School of Beauty where she obtained her cosmetology license. Sue married Robert M. Firlit in St. Peter’s Church, Utica on September 17, 1966, a blessed union of 55 years. She was the owner/operator of Suzanne’s where she had many life-long clients who became life-long friends throughout the years.

Sue is survived by her loving husband, Bob; daughters, Beth (Bill) Crossley, Marcy, Mary (Kwasi Boaitey) Firlit, Rochester and Melissa Firlit, NYC; grandchildren, Billy, Johnny and Joey Crossley, Bobby and Ethan Baldasty; sister, Linda (Dick) Raymer; brothers, Ken (Nancy) Lasher and Jim (Theresa) Lasher; brother-in-law, John Firlit; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (Mark) Evans and Elaine (George) Thompson as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and all extended family.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday from 4-6:30 pm at Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, 1122 Culver Ave, Utica. Funeral services will be at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish (Lady of Lourdes) 2222 Genesee St. Utica, on Thursday at 11:00 am where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

The Firlit family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare, Hospice & Palliative Care Inc. and Abraham House in Rome, for all the love, care and compassion shown during her stay. They offered tremendous support, dignity and comfort to Sue and her family.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Sue’s name may be made to the Abraham House Rome. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
