Theresa (Vella) Wojnas

Mrs. Theresa V. (Vella) Wojnas, age 96, of Utica, passed away on Tuesday January 19, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center with her loving family by her side.

She was born on October 5, 1919, in Utica, a daughter of the late Salvatore and Mary Caporuscio Vella, and was educated in local schools.

On September 11, 1948, she was joined in marriage to Eugene J. Wojnas in St. Anthony's Church, a blessed union of 55 years, until his passing on October 16, 2003.

Theresa was employed by G.A.F. B. as a clerk in the Air Freight Dept. for many years until her retirement.

She was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church, N. Utica.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Joseph McGrath of MA; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Theodore Wojnas of Utica, Robert and Karen Wojnas of New Hartford and Joseph Wojnas of Utica; six grandchildren, Joshua Wojnas, Crystal and Joseph Fazekas, Tammy and Irhad Rascic and Daniel, Stephanie and Christina McGrath; three great-grandchildren Joey, Lilyana and Sophia; two brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Frank and Marie Wojnas and Edward Wojnas and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son Michael in 2005; two brothers, Anthony and Frank Vella and her sister Josephine Babula.

Visitation will be held on Monday morning from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc. 1122 Culver Ave., Her Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 Noon.in St. Peter's Church, N. Utica. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
