Thomas E. Evans

Mr. Thomas E. Evans age 63, of New Hartford, passed away on Saturday February 15, 2014 at St. Luke's HospitalCenter with his beloved family by his side.

He was born in Utica on February 24, 1950 a son of the late Robert J. Evans and Doris Entwistle-Powell and was educated in the RemsenSchool District. He was a proud graduate of Utica College of Syracuse University. Thomas spent his professional life in the education field. He was a teacher for many years with the UticaCitySchool District in the Special Education Dept. He also taught at the House of Good Shepherd and was an Adjunct Professor at HCCC, until his retirement. On August 25, 1989 he was married to Nancy Nicolella, a blessed union of 24 years.

Surviving are his beloved wife Nancy; three daughters and two sons-in-law Debbie and Steven Nicotera of Sauquoit, Tracey and Randy Iannone of Virginia Beach and Shannon Bronk and Guy Eberly of Whitesboro; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas Evans of New Hartford and Aaron and Amy Evans of GA.; his step-children Patrick Schrader of Rome; Edward Schrader of MD and Gloria and Greg Santoli of Rochester; his sister Gail and husband Barrett Wells; brothers John Evans and wife Bonnie and Richard Evans and wife Claire; several cherished grandchildren; also aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one bother Robert J. Evans, Jr. and two sisters Judy Alm and Beth Kirk.

Thomas will be remembered as an avid San Francisco Giants Fan, his love of history and love of his dogs. He enjoyed his time walking them and having them close by his side. He will be missed by his two furry children KC and Buddie and will rejoice in being reunited with his faithful companion, and love of his life Arf.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 - 6:30 pm at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. Utica. Funeral services will be at the conclusion of visitation at 6:30 pm at the funeral home with the Rev. Joseph Salerno officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Steven-Swan Humane Society. Envelopes will be available.
