Tonia "Toni" Gail (Paniccia) McCully

Marco Island- Tonia “Toni” Gail (Paniccia) McCully, age 77, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at the Avow Hospice in Naples, FL.

She was born on June 6, 1947 in Utica, NY the daughter of the late Frank and Angeline “Lil” (Annese) Paniccia. Toni graduated from Proctor High School and on September 25, 1976 married Duncan James McCully in Utica, a blessed marriage of 29 years prior to his passing on May 6, 2006. She wore many hats in her career, from being a secretary at Catholic Charities, to swim instructor, lifeguard, and water aerobics instructor at MVCC until 2005, and most recently, Toni was a Pool Ambassador at the Sirene Adult Exclusive Pool on the 5th floor of JW Marriott in Marco Island, FL. However, her biggest accomplishment would have been being a mom, raising her children and taking care of her family. She was a communicant of St Agnes Church in Utica and San Marco Catholic Church in Marco Island.

Toni was a loving wife, mom, grandma, and sister.

She is survived by her loving children, Frank (Carrie Czerkies) McCully, Whitesboro, Kristin (Kristofer) McCully Sullivan, Verona, and Thomas McCully, Utica; her cherished grandchildren, Connor and Caden McCully, Gabriel Czerkies, and Emily Barron, Charles and Cooper Sullivan and Evan and Noah Kane; her siblings, Sue Hoke, FL, Santo (Sandra) Paniccia, Clinton and Marlene Belensky, Rome; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert (Brenda) McCully, ME as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews and especially the numerous special friends on Marco Island who over the last 20 years, were family to her. 

Toni was predeceased by her loving husband; her parents, Angeline and Frank Paniccia; her two brothers-in-law, James Hoke and John Belensky and long-time family friend Pat Fausto.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 from 4 PM to 6 PM at the Scala, Roefaro & Karboski Funeral Home, 1122 Culver Ave., Utica, NY. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 12 Noon at Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. 

The McCully family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Avow Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion shown, for not only Toni, but also her family. They would also like to thank the JW Marriott Family, friends and neighbors who became like family to Toni in her 20 years on Marco Island.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Toni’s name may be made to your local hospice center, or Avow Hospice at 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples FL, 34105. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
