Mrs. Wanda (Olkowski) Caputo, age 96, of Utica, passed away on Tuesday November 18, 2014.
She was born in Utica on January 18, 1918, a daughter of the late Ignatius and Anna Walczyk Olkowski, and was educated in local schools.
On June 15, 1940, she was united in marriage to Carmen R. Caputo in HolyTrinityChurch, a blessed union of 69 years until his death on September 30, 2009.
Wanda was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She will be sadly missed but never forgotten.
She was a parishioner of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church.
Surviving are three loving daughters and two sons-in-law, Virginia Clarke, of Utica, Judith and Robert Carper, of Sauquoit, and Maria and John George, of Utica; her cherished grandchildren, Michael and Erin Clarke, David and Heather Clarke, Melissa Clarke and Ryan Bell, Suzanne and Anthony Smith, , Aaron and Teri Carper, Ashley and Daniel Smith, Lauren Platt and Kristin and Daniel Szatko; four cherished great-grandchildren, Jayden Cooley, Cameron Platt and Andrew and Addison Carper; her sister Irene Kielar, of New Hartford and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Theodore, Bernard and Rudolph Olkowski and her sister Gertrude Warzala.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc. 1122 Culver Ave., and at 9:00 a.m. in Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church. Private entombment will be in Holy Trinity Mausoleum.
Visiting hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
A special Thank You is extended to her devoted caregiver and granddaughter Lauren, for her loving care of Wanda.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Wanda's memory may be made to her favorite charity, Hospice Care Inc. Envelopes will be available.
